Excessive water temperature in diesel engines usually causes boiling of the coolant in the radiator, a decrease in diesel engine power, a decrease in lubricating oil viscosity, increased friction between diesel engine components, and even serious malfunctions such as cylinder pulling and cylinder gasket burning. Here, we will discuss the main causes of high temperatures in diesel engine and provide preventive and improvement measures.
1、Overload operation
Long term overloaded operation of diesel engine can increase fuel consumption and heat load, resulting in high water temperature. For this reason, it is necessary to avoid long-term overloading of diesel engine.
2、Insufficient coolant
Regularly check the coolant level in the radiator and expansion tank, and replenish it promptly when the liquid level is low. If there is a lack of coolant in the cooling system of a diesel engine, it will affect the heat dissipation effect of the diesel engine and cause high temperatures.
3、Foreign matter adhering to the surface of the radiator
The most common phenomenon is the attachment of debris on the surface of the radiator. The attached debris will reduce the heat dissipation area of the radiator, decrease the windward area of the radiator, reduce the heat dissipation capacity of the radiator, and cause high temperature in the diesel engine. Therefore, the radiator should be cleaned regularly.
4、The fan belt is too loose or the fan is deformed
Loose fan belts can easily cause a decrease in fan speed, resulting in the radiator not being able to dissipate heat properly and causing the diesel engine to overheat. In addition, deformation of the fan can also lead to insufficient heat dissipation capacity of the radiator. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly check whether the diesel engine fan belt is loose and whether the fan shape is abnormal.
